PLAYER BIO Robyn Regehr was drafted 19th overall by the Colorado Avalanche in the 1998 NHL Draft, He was traded to the Flames and made his NHL debut on October 28, 1999. Known for his tough, physical style of play, he became an instant fan favourite and leader on the Calgary blue line for the next decade, spending 7 seasons as an alternate captain. He was a two-time team nominee for the Bill Masterton Trophy (1999-2000,2002-03), recognizing perseverance, sportsmanship and dedication to hockey. In addition, he was a winner of both the J.R. McCaig Memorial Award (2005-06) and Ralph T. Scurfield Humanitarian Award (1999-2000). Regehr was traded to the Buffalo Sabres in June, 2011 and then to the Los Angeles Kings in April 2013. While with the Kings, he played in his 1000th NHL game on February 1, 2014 and won a Stanley Cup Championship that same year. He retired from the NHL following the 2014-15 season. No stranger to international competition, he made his Team Canada debut in 1999 with the World Junior team, winning a silver medal. He also represented Canada at the 2000 and 2005 (silver) World Championships, 2004 World Cup of Hockey (gold) and the 2006 Winter Olympics.
PERSONAL BIO Hockey has had a great impact on my life; It taught me about teamwork and being on a high performing team. It taught me the discipline of listening to the coach and teammates and also sticking to the program. Commitment and sacrifice what needed to be done by my family and myself to give me a chance to make the NHL and play for many years. Lastly, I experienced success and failure of attaining short and long term goals or falling short of them. My favorite memory playing in the NHL, was winning the Stanley cup in 2014 when I play for the LA Kings. I enjoy playing charity hockey games, golf tournaments, poker and my favorite helping make brown bag lunches for school kids in Calgary. My wife Kristina and I have two boys; Wyatt (11) and Shane (8). When I am not playing hockey or involved in the community I like to go sledding in the mountains , water skiing, fishing, road cycling and I am also an emergency back-up loader operator. I am busy with helping out with family activities, doing some public speaking engagements and play beer-league hockey. When I retired, I started an energy services company called Blueline Oilfield Rentals in 2008. We are involved in agriculture in Saskatchewan and I still love operating a combine.
