PLAYER BIO Curtis Glencross entered the National Hockey League in the 2006-07 season with the Anaheim Mighty Ducks, scoring his first goal on his first NHL shot. Following stints with Anaheim, the Columbus Blue Jackets and Edmonton Oilers, Glencross signed as a free agent with the Calgary Flames in July of 2008. He went on to spend the next seven seasons in Calgary, collecting 242 points (144 G, 128 A) in 418 games played. The 2011-12 season saw him reach career highs in goals (26) and points (48), and win the Ralph T. Scurfield Humanitarian Award, presented to the Flames player who best exemplifies the qualities of perseverance, determination and leadership on the ice combined with dedication to community service. Glencross was dealt to the Washington Capitals at the 2015 trade deadline, appearing in 18 regular season games and 10 more during the Stanley Cup Playoffs. As a member of the Capitals, he played his 500th NHL game on March 28, 2015 versus the Nashville Predators. He retired from the NHL following the 2014-15 season. Glencross and his family still reside in the Calgary area and continue to be very active in the community. The Glencross Invitational Charity Roughstock Event is held annually and raises money for the Ronald McDonald House in Red Deer and minor hockey programming through the Hockey Alberta Foundation.
