FLAMES ALUMNI HOST FIRST ANNUAL ALUMNI HOCKEY SCHOOL

The Calgary Flames Alumni Association is excited to announce the launch of the Calgary Flames Alumni Hockey School presented by OPA! Youth who register will receive one-on-one instruction from Flames Alumni members including Rhett Warrener, Jamie Macoun, Matt Stajan, Mike Commodore, Brian McGrattan and Curtis Glencross. The camp is set to take place at VIVO Recreation Centre in NE Calgary. The camp is open to youth aged 6-14.

Learn with the Flames Alumni! The five-day hockey camp featuring former Flames Greats, is designed to help young hockey players improve power skating techniques, including acceleration and pivoting, skills training with a 4-to-1 instruction ratio. Goaltenders will receive personal coaching on crease/angle play, controlling rebounds, puck movement, and more with NHL Alumni Warren Skorodenski.

The Flames Alumni Hockey School is for players of all levels with an emphasis on fun and skill development. The week long camp will run for two different sessions in mid-August. The first session begins on Monday, August 17 and runs through Friday, August 21. The second session will begin Monday, August 24 and conclude Friday, August 28. Each day will include a 75 minute ice time.

Session 2 – 9-11 year olds – 9:45am – 11:00am (20-25 kids) (3-5 on ice staff)
Session 3 – 12-14 year olds – 11:30am – 12:45pm (20-25 kids) (3-5 on ice staff)

“The Calgary Flames Alumni are excited to give back in another exciting way by sharing the skills they have on the ice with the next generation of hockey players,” said Jamie Macoun, President of the Alumni Association. “This camp allows the alumni to continue to make contributions to our community in the best way they know how and also help raise some funds for various charities around the city.”

The Calgary Flames Alumni have been a contributor to the southern Alberta community since the early 1990s. Through pro-active events and activities combined with a positive response to requested community needs, the alumni have been effective in fundraising for important causes as well as creating impactful and socially beneficial experiences for fans. Including their signature fundraising event, the Alumni Masters Charity Golf Tournament, the Alumni have raised over $3 million for local charities.
